DVSA Driving Test Cancellation Updates

From 8th April 2025, the DVSA will introduce an important change affecting car driving tests across the UK, including at the Leicester Driving Test Centre. The notice period for cancelling or rescheduling a test without losing the test fee will increase from 3 full working days to 10 full working days. (Note: Sundays and bank holidays are not counted as working days).


Why has DVSA made this change?


This update is part of the DVSA’s 7-point plan to improve efficiency and reduce the current backlog of driving test bookings. Extending the cancellation window to 10 working days gives examiners more time to reallocate cancelled slots, helping other learners in Leicester and across the UK get earlier test appointments.


What this means for learner drivers in Leicester
